{"id":121882,"date":"2023-06-13T14:01:34","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T18:01:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/visible-minority-canadians-bucked-national-trend-and-landed-more-jobs-in-may\/"},"modified":"2023-06-13T14:04:31","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T18:04:31","slug":"visible-minority-canadians-bucked-national-trend-and-landed-more-jobs-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visible-minority-canadians-bucked-national-trend-and-landed-more-jobs-in-may\/","title":{"rendered":"Visible Minority Canadians Bucked National Trend And Landed More Jobs In May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Visible minorities landed more <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skilledworker.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada jobs<\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>in May, bucking the overall national trend as the unemployment rate nudged up to 5.2 per cent, the first monthly increase since August, according to the latest Labour Force Survey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong the three largest racialized population groups in Canada, the unemployment rate fell by 0.6 percentage points on a year-over-year basis for South Asian Canadians,\u201d the Statistics Canada report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was little changed for Chinese \u2026 and fell by 1.3 percentage points for Black \u2026 Canadians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Men and women aged 25 to 54 years old \u2013 the age group Statistics Canada calls core-aged &#8211; also saw their employment prospects improve in May.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There were 43,000 more of these men with jobs in May, the second consecutive month in which this demographic group saw an improvement in their employment situation. All other provinces recorded little change.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Ontario, employment decreased by 24,000 jobs that month, following a net increase of 205,000 positions from September 2022 to April 2023.
