{"id":121602,"date":"2023-06-05T16:02:58","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T20:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/finland-joins-list-of-countries-participating-in-international-experience-canada\/"},"modified":"2023-06-05T16:09:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-05T20:09:17","slug":"finland-joins-list-of-countries-participating-in-international-experience-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/finland-joins-list-of-countries-participating-in-international-experience-canada\/","title":{"rendered":"Finland Joins List Of Countries Participating In International\u00a0Experience\u00a0Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/international-experience-canada-program\/\">International\u00a0Experience\u00a0Canada\u00a0Program<\/a>\u00a0(IEC) is being opened up to the Finish youth by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) only six months after Ottawa announced it would increase the number of people who can apply under the program by 20 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Under the IEC deal between Canada and Finland, 18 to 35-year-olds will be able to work and travel in each other\u2019s country starting next year for up to 12 months in each of three categories: Working Holiday, International Co-op (internship) and Young Professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Canada currently allows 36 countries to participate in the IEC, making Finland the 37<sup>th<\/sup> such country once the deal comes into force.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an exciting day for young people in Canada and Finland. The signing of this youth mobility agreement means that it will be easier for Canadian youth to travel and work in Finland,\u201d said Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0For Finnish youth, this agreement will improve their access to jobs in Canada and provide them with opportunities to experience what our great country has to offer. From food, language and traditions, generations of Finns have contributed to our communities in many important ways,\u201d said Patty Hajdu, the federal minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Canada-Finland Youth Mobility Agreement will give youth of every background all across Canada an opportunity to learn from one another, strengthening ties between our two countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year, Canada is extending the IEC to nearly 90,000 international youth. More than 240,000 Canadians have participated in IEC since 2008.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Watch Video<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1Ly69XLsj0A\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Under the working holiday category of the IEC, candidates receive open <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-de-travail-canadien-travailler-au-canada\/\">work permits<\/a> that allow them to work anywhere in the host country. They do not have to have a job offer and can work for more than one employer while in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Under the\u00a0international\u00a0co-op, or internship, category, <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/etudier-au-canada-etre-admis-une-universite-ou-un-college-canadien\/\">students<\/a> receive employer-specific work permits to gain\u00a0experience\u00a0in their field of study.<\/p>\n<p>The work placement or internship must be a requirement for the course of study and so the work permits are employer-specific. These participants must work for the same employer in the same location for the entire duration of their stay.<\/p>\n<p>The young professionals\u2019 category allows participants to receive employer-specific work permits to gain targeted, professional work\u00a0experience\u00a0that is within their field of study or career path.<\/p>\n<h3>IEC Applicants Can Use Services Of Recognized Organizations To Help Plan Their Trips<\/h3>\n<p>The job must be one that contributes to the participant\u2019s professional development. The work permit given is employer specific.<\/p>\n<p>Under the IEC, applicants have the option of coming to work and travel in\u00a0Canada\u00a0with the help of a Recognized Organization (RO) to help them plan their trip.<\/p>\n<p>These organizations, which usually charge a fee for their services, can help applicants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>get information about Canadian culture, languages, laws, taxes, and job opportunities;<\/li>\n<li>find transportation, and;<\/li>\n<li>provide general support and advice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Using an RO can help some of those who may want to apply from non-IEC countries come to\u00a0Canada\u00a0through the program.
