labour market, revamped its list of median hourly wages used by employers when hiring foreign nationals under the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-de-travail-canadien-travailler-au-canada\/\">Temporary Foreign Worker Program<\/a> (TFWP).<\/p>\n<p>The new list is to take effect on May 31.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe wage being offered for the position will determine if you need to apply for a <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/labour-market-impact-assessments-lmias-canada\/\">Labour Market Impact Assessment<\/a> (LMIA) under the stream for high-wage positions or the stream for low-wage positions, each with their own requirements,\u201d the ministry\u2019s website explains to employers.<\/p>\n<p>Employers offering a wage to a temporary foreign worker that is at or above the provincial or territorial median hourly wage must apply under the stream for high-wage Canada often welcomes temporary foreign workers who gain experience with their work permits before applying for permanent residency.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Canadian employers seeking to fill jobs going begging for a want of qualified workers often turn to either the TFWP or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/international-mobility-program\/\">International Mobility\u00a0Program<\/a>\u00a0(IMP) to bring in foreign nationals to fill those positions.<\/p>\n<p>In the second step towards permanent residency, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) decides how many and which\u00a0temporary\u00a0foreign\u00a0workers will be eligible for admission as frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The latest data from the IRCC reveals that Canada benefited from the labour of 319,530 foreign nationals working in the country through the IMP and TFWP.<\/p>\n<p>The IMP allowed 183,710 foreign nationals to get their work permits and the TFWP helped another 135,820.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/immigration-refugees-citizenship\/services\/application\/check-processing-times.html\" rel=\"noopener\">On its website<\/a>, the IRCC provides estimates of the processing times for immigration applications.
