They are employed in libraries or in a department within a library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Librarians perform some or all of the following duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recommend acquisition of books, periodicals and audio-visual, interactive media and other materials for inclusion in library collection<\/li>\n<li>Provide reference services<\/li>\n<li>Select, classify, catalogue and weed library materials<\/li>\n<li>Prepare bibliographies, indexes, reading lists, guides and other finding aids<\/li>\n<li>Develop systems to access library collections<\/li>\n<li>Perform manual, on-line and interactive media reference searches to assist users in accessing library materials and arrange for interlibrary loans<\/li>\n<li>Develop taxonomies using various information and data sources<\/li>\n<li>Provide specialized programs for children, seniors and other groups<\/li>\n<li>Conduct library information and orientation training programs and tours<\/li>\n<li>Perform related administrative duties and supervise library technicians, assistants and clerks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Individuals who perform the majority of the above job description may be eligible for consideration under Quebec Immigration rules.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to proceed forward with our assistance:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Complete the<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.immigration.ca\/assess2.asp\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<strong>following questionnaire<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and receive in 1-2 days a free assessment of your qualifications for admission to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nature of Work: Librarians select, develop, organize and maintain library collections and provide advisory services for users.
