Alberta sent out Notifications of Interest (NOI) to 134 candidates in an Alberta Advantage Immigration Program<\/a> (AAIP) Express Entry<\/a> draw on Thursday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the March 9 draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 301. That\u2019s the lowest CRS score under an Alberta Express Entry draw since Oct. 26, 2021, almost a year and a half ago.<\/p>\n

Alberta premier is bullish on immigration to the province<\/h3>\n

Last year, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) set the limit for nominations for the AAIP at 9,750 for the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So far this year, the Prairie province has issued 1,292 nominations. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is hoping to greatly increase immigration to her province and wants the number of nominations allowed to Alberta to rise by almost 67 per cent by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlberta is still calling,\u201d the premier wrote on her LinkedIn page.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cRight now there are over 100,000 job vacancies to fill in Alberta. We need more skilled workers to keep our economy firing on all cylinders!\u201d<\/p>\n

Under the stream, foreign nationals must have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to the province, working in an occupation which supports Alberta\u2019s economic development and diversification and have family ties to the province.<\/p>\n

The province currently has 1,490 applications pending under the Alberta Opportunity Stream and 450 under the Alberta Express Entry Stream.<\/p>\n

Applications for 10 occupations may take longer to process due to high volumes<\/h3>\n

Alberta says a high number of AAIP applications have been received in the following occupations, meaning they may take longer to process:<\/p>\n

  • 62020 \u2013 food service supervisors<\/li>\n
  • 62010 \u2013 retail sales supervisors<\/li>\n
  • 63200 \u2013 cooks<\/li>\n
  • 13110 \u2013 administrative assistants<\/li>\n
  • 21231 \u2013 software engineers and designers<\/li>\n
  • 42202 \u2013 early childhood educators and assistants<\/li>\n
  • 21222 \u2013 information systems specialists<\/li>\n
  • 60020 \u2013 retail and wholesale trade managers<\/li>\n
  • 73300 \u2013 transport truck drivers<\/li>\n
  • 60030 \u2013 restaurant and food service managers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In order to be eligible to receive a notification of interest, candidates must:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • have an active Express Entry profile in the federal Express Entry pool;<\/li>\n
    • have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta;<\/li>\n
    • be working in an occupation that supports Alberta\u2019s economic development and diversification, and;<\/li>\n
