{"id":109902,"date":"2023-01-30T09:41:48","date_gmt":"2023-01-30T14:41:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/canada-jobs-wages-and-number-of-people-working-climbed-in-november-latest-data-reveals\/"},"modified":"2023-01-30T09:41:48","modified_gmt":"2023-01-30T14:41:48","slug":"canada-jobs-wages-and-number-of-people-working-climbed-in-november-latest-data-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-jobs-wages-and-number-of-people-working-climbed-in-november-latest-data-reveals\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada Jobs: Wages And Number Of People Working Climbed In November, Latest Data Reveals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wages and the number of people landing paying Canada jobs both climbed in November last year, the latest data from Statistics Canada reveals.<\/p>\n<p>In its <i>Payroll Employment, Earnings and Hours, and Job Vacancies, November 2022<\/i> report, the statistical and demographic services agency reveals that wages in that month were up 4.2 per cent over a year earlier and an extra 7,100 people in Canada landed paying jobs.<\/p>\n<p>In the services sector, 13,500 more people landed jobs in November last year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/ontario-immigration-draws-province-issues-622-canada-immigration-invitations\/\">Ontario Immigration Draws: Province Issues 622 Canada Immigration Invitations<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-pnp-draws-province-issues-at-least-273-canada-immigration-invitations\/\">British Columbia PNP Draws: Province Issues At Least 273 Canada Immigration Invitations<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/prince-edward-island-issues-223-canada-immigration-invitations-in-first-pnp-draw-of-2023\/\">Prince Edward Island Issues 223 Canada Immigration Invitations In First PNP Draw Of 2023<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u201cGains were recorded in 10 of the 15 sectors, led by professional, scientific and technical services, public administration and finance and insurance, while retail trade recorded a decline,\u201d reports Statistics Canada.<\/p>\n<p>In the goods-producing sector, there was little change although the construction industry added 4,300 workers.<\/p>\n<p>Gains in professional and technical services were largely driven by growth by computer designing and related services firms.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs of November 2022, payroll employment in this industry was up 118,400, or 44.9 per cent, compared with June 2020,\u201d reports Statistics Canada. \u201cThis increase accounted for nearly 42 per cent of the overall growth in professional, scientific and technical services over the period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The construction sector\u2019s gains in employment were led by infrastructure projects, a residential construction boom, and speciality trade contractors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPayroll employment in construction increased for the third consecutive month in November, bringing the total gains to 23,500, up 2.1 per cent, since September 2022,\u201d notes Statistics Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuebec and Alberta recorded the largest payroll employment gains while slight declines were observed in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>Average Weekly Wage In Canada Nudged Up To $1,180 In November Last Year<\/h3>\n<p>As employers sought to fill job vacancies, they also upped the compensation paid to workers, pushing up the average weekly earnings in Canada to $1,180 in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncreases were recorded across all provinces, with the largest proportional gains in Newfoundland and Labrador and New Brunswick,\u201d notes Statistics Canada.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall gains in average weekly earnings were slightly moderated by slower growth in Saskatchewan<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and Ontario.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Year over year, average weekly earnings in the goods-producing sector had increased 5.3 per cent by November last year.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>If you are a candidate looking for a Canada job, or an employer looking to recruit foreign talent from abroad, immigration.ca can help.
