href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/qui-peut-immigrer-au-canada-dans-le-cadre-du-programme-des-travailleurs-qualifies\/\">\u00a0Federal Skilled Worker<\/a>\u00a0(FSW) program now allows foreign nationals who are heavy equipment operators\u00a0to immigrate to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>The change to the FSW which made that possible came on Nov. 16 last year, when Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) added 16 new jobs to its list of eligible occupations.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC increased the number of eligible occupations under the FSW on the same day the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/how-canadas-overhauled-national-occupational-classification-will-affect-express-entry\/\">National\u00a0Occupational Classification\u00a0<\/a>(NOC) 2021 came into an\u00a0apprenticeship training of less than two\u00a0years, or\u00a0more than six\u00a0months of on-the-job training.<\/p>\n<p>The full list of newly-added jobs on the list of eligible occupations under the FSW includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NOC 13102\u00a0Payroll\u00a0administrators<\/li>\n<li>NOC 33100 Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants<\/li>\n<li>NOC 33102\u00a0Nurse\u00a0aides, orderlies and patient service associates<\/li>\n<li>NOC 33103 Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants<\/li>\n<li>NOC 43100 Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants<\/li>\n<li>NOC 43200 Sheriffs and bailiffs<\/li>\n<li>NOC 43201 Correctional service officers<\/li>\n<li>NOC 43202 By-law enforcement and other regulatory officers<\/li>\n<li>NOC 63211 Estheticians, electrologists and related occupations<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73200 Residential and commercial installers and servicers<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73202 Pest controllers and fumigators<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73209 Other repairers and servicers<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73300 Transport truck drivers<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73301 Bus drivers, subway operators and other transit operators<\/li>\n<li>NOC 73400 Heavy equipment operators<\/li>\n<li>NOC 93200 Aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heavy equipment operators, those workers who operate the\u00a0heavy\u00a0equipment\u00a0used in the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, airports, gas and oil pipelines, tunnels, buildings and other structures, in surface mining and quarrying activities, and in material handling, are in demand across Canada.<\/p>\n<h3>Heavy Equipment Operator Jobs Abound In Canada<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Indeed.ca listed 2,707 jobs for\u00a0heavy\u00a0equipment\u00a0operators in Canada in mid-January and Job Bank shows these workers earn a median annual income of $58,500 based on a standard work week.<\/p>\n<p>They are typically employed by construction companies,\u00a0heavy\u00a0equipment\u00a0contractors, public works departments and pipeline, logging, cargo-handling and other companies.<\/p>\n<p>In Canada, the construction industry\u2019s labour shortage is dire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve moved from a shortage to a crisis, not only for Canada\u2019s economy but for the construction industry,\u201d Mary Van Buren, president of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), reportedly told Daily Commercial News. \u201cWe had about 93,000 open jobs and that was as of September, October.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr
