Google searches for \u2018move to Canada\u2019 spiked on Friday as the UK voted to leave the European Union in a referendum that reverberated around the world.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following in the footsteps of Americans\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/internet-searches-move-canada-surge-following-us-presidential-super-tuesday-audio\/\">concerned by the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency<\/a>, the British began frantically looking for alternative options as turmoil took hold following the \u2018Brexit\u2019 vote.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The pound plummeted, financial markets crashed and British Prime Minister David Cameron resigned as even the leaders of the leave campaigned were shocked by the impact of their victory.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Read our guide on how to move to Canada\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/trump-president-step-step-guide-move-canada\/\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the drama unfolded, Britons fearing for the future of their country began to explore the possibility of moving here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Google Trends showed a 100 per cent increase in searches for \u2018move to Canada\u2019 as a direct result of the referendum result.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The search company does not provide real numbers, but its \u2018search volume index\u2019 records an average number of queries as \u20181\u2019.
