{"id":10726,"date":"2016-09-08T19:13:31","date_gmt":"2016-09-08T19:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/fr\/?p=10726"},"modified":"2016-09-08T19:13:31","modified_gmt":"2016-09-08T19:13:31","slug":"trump-presidency-positive-canada-mexico-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/trump-presidency-positive-canada-mexico-relations\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Presidency Positive for Canada-Mexico Relations?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mexico Finance Minister Luis Videgaray is predicting a better relationship with Canada could be one of the positive outcomes if Donald Trump is elected president of the USA.<\/p>\n<p>Videgaray believes the countries immediately north and south of the US could see enhanced trade and investment should Trump put into practice some of the policies he has spoken of if he makes it to the White House.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"img2172\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Trump Presidency Positive for Canada-Mexico Relations?\" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/images\/pics\/Canada_mexico.jpg\" alt=\"Mexico Finance Minister Luis Videgaray is predicting a better relationship with Canada could be one of the positive outcomes if Donald Trump is elected president of the USA.\" width=\"397\" height=\"223\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Reality TV star Trump has vowed to make Mexico pay for a wall along the US border if he beats Hillary Clinton to in the November election.<\/p>\n<p>He also calls the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which governs trade between the two nations and Canada, \u2018the worst trade deal ever done\u2019 and says <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/trumps-presidential-campaign-centred-around-trade-canada-mexico\/\">he will rip it up<\/a> if he becomes president.<\/p>\n<p>Videgaray says the breakdown of Mexico\u2019s relationship with the US would see it open up to the rest of the world, including Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Canada-Mexico relations have been strained since a visa restriction was imposed by the Conservatives in 2009 because of the overwhelming number of asylum claims.
