{"id":10665,"date":"2016-09-08T17:33:58","date_gmt":"2016-09-08T17:33:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/immigrationca.staging.wpengine.com\/fr\/?p=10665"},"modified":"2017-02-24T18:41:31","modified_gmt":"2017-02-24T18:41:31","slug":"british-columbia-opens-trade-office-philippines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-opens-trade-office-philippines\/","title":{"rendered":"British Columbia Opens Trade Office in the Philippines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>British Columbia has opened a new trade office in the Philippines as it looks to capitalize on the growing economy in the Southeast Asian country.<\/p>\n<p>Officials including Premier Christy Clark were at the official opening in Manila, as Canada\u2019s western province looks to boost business relations in the region.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"img5834\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"British Columbia Opens Trade Office in the Philippines\" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/images\/pics\/BC.jpg\" alt=\"British Columbia has opened a new trade office in the Philippines as it looks to capitalize on the growing economy in the Southeast Asian country.\" width=\"360\" height=\"209\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new Trade and Investment Representative Office aims to help Canadian companies do business in the Philippines, and attract Filipino investment in B.C.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>B.C. and the Philippines<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>More than <strong>135,000<\/strong> Filipinos live in British Columbia.<\/li>\n<li>Projected GDP growth of <strong>6.3%<\/strong> puts the Philippines among the world\u2019s fastest-growing economies.<\/li>\n<li>B.C. is the top provincial exporter to the Philippines, with <strong>$190 million<\/strong> in exports in 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u201cWe are positioning B.C. to capitalize on the many opportunities in the Philippines, which has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world,\u201d Clark said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe office opening marks a new chapter in B.C.\u2019s relationship with the Philippines, supporting increased flow of goods, services, ideas and people between our two jurisdictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The office is B.C.\u2019s 12<sup>th<\/sup> around the world as it looks to build on the success that means it currently ranks as <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/british-columbias-booming-economy-numbers\/\">Canada\u2019s best performing province<\/a> economically.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>B.C.\u2019s 12 trade mission locations<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Japan<\/li>\n<li>South Korea<\/li>\n<li>India (3 offices)<\/li>\n<li>China (4 offices)<\/li>\n<li>Europe<\/li>\n<li>United States<\/li>\n<li>Philippines<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Filipinos are currently the <a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/filipinos-switching-immigration-focus-us-canada\/\">major nationality entering Canada<\/a>, be it as temporary foreign workers, permanent residents or new citizens.<\/p>\n<p>While the Philippines is far short of the top five when it comes to international student visas, the numbers are growing, from just over 500 in 2005 to a peak of 2,000 in 2013.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Filipinos in Canada<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>40,000<\/strong> permanent residents (2014)<\/li>\n<li><strong>40,000<\/strong> TFWs (2014)<\/li>\n<li><strong>30,000<\/strong> new citizens (2015)<\/li>\n<li><strong>1,800<\/strong> international students (2014)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>During her Philippines trip, Clark met with executives from the Ayala Corporation, a major business which has invested in the booming B.C. real estate market and linked up with several technology firms in the province.<\/p>\n<p>It is hoped Ayala will expand its investment and build a North America head office in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested employers:\u00a0<\/strong>Kindly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/zone-employeurs-canadiens\/\">contact us<\/a>\u00a0here to receive further information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested candidates:<\/strong>\u00a0Find out whether you qualify to Canada by completing our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/formulaires-devaluation-gratuite-dimmigration\/\">free on-line evaluation<\/a>.
