If the answer is yes you weren\u2019t alone as 40,600 new positions were created in Canada.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As economists show tentative excitement the economy is entering recovery mode, a drop in unemployment from 7.3 to 7.1 per cent will only serve to fuel the fire.\u00a0 This comes on the heels after three months of little change.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-7559 \" src=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/shutterstock_183087008-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"Did you get a job in March? The six month average is 11,000 and the normal expectation is 16,000 new positions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Delving into the sectors reveals it\u2019s not all blue sky and sunshine. On a year-over-year basis, employment in the province was little changed, but the unemployment rate was up\u00a01.5\u00a0percentage points as more people were looking for work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Employment in <strong>Manitoba<\/strong> increased by\u00a05,500\u00a0in March, and the unemployment rate held steady at\u00a06.0 per cent as more people participated in the labour market. This unemployment rate was the lowest among all the provinces. Despite more Manitobans working in March, employment in the province was little changed from\u00a012\u00a0months earlier.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>Nova Scotia<\/strong>, employment increased by\u00a03,400\u00a0in March. As more people participated in the labour market, the unemployment rate held steady at\u00a09.1 per cent. Despite the increase in March, employment in the province has been on a downward trend since the fall of\u00a02015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In March, employment rose by\u00a02,800\u00a0in <strong>Saskatchewan<\/strong>; however, the unemployment rate increased\u00a00.3\u00a0percentage points to\u00a06.2 per cent as more people searched for work. Compared with\u00a012\u00a0months earlier, employment in the province was down slightly. Over the same period, the unemployment rate was up\u00a01.7\u00a0percentage points \u2013 the result of more people looking for work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Employment in <strong>Prince Edward Island<\/strong> declined by\u00a0700, and the unemployment rate was\u00a011.0 per cent. In the\u00a012\u00a0months to March, employment in the province decreased by\u00a02,300\u00a0(down 3.1%).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Employment in <strong>British Columbia<\/strong> was little changed in March; however, on a year-over-year basis, gains totalled\u00a072,000\u00a0or\u00a03.2 per cent \u2013 still the fastest growth rate among all the provinces. In March, the unemployment rate remained at\u00a06.5 per cent, though it was up\u00a00.6\u00a0percentage points compared with a year earlier, as more people searched for work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>Ontario<\/strong>, employment was also little changed in March, and the unemployment rate stayed at\u00a06.8 per cent. On a year-over-year basis, employment in the province increased by\u00a086,000\u00a0or\u00a01.2 per cent, the second highest rate of growth among the provinces. All of the gains were in full-time work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There was little change in employment in <strong>Quebec<\/strong> on both a monthly and a year-over-year basis. The unemployment rate was\u00a07.5 per cent in March.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Adjusted to <strong>US<\/strong> measures, the unemployment rate in Canada was\u00a06.1 per cent in March versus\u00a05.0 per cent in the United States.
