By last month, that had fallen to 5.6 per cent.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Read More<\/b><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/british-columbia-draw-province-issues-at-least-129-canada-immigration-invitations\">British Columbia Draw: Province Issues At Least 129 Canada Immigration Invitations<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/what-is-a-good-express-entry-comprehensive-ranking-system-score\">What Is A Good Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System Score?<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-issues-1500-itas-in-first-all-program-express-entry-draw-for-19-months\">Canada Issues 1,500 ITAs In First All-Program Express Entry Draw For 19 Months<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Immigrants who came to Canada within the past five years also saw their employment prospects pick up, with their unemployment rate dropping from 10.9 per cent in June last year to 8.1 per cent last month.<\/p>\n<p>Despite those improvements, though, immigrants still struggle with higher unemployment than workers who were born in Canada, notes the country\u2019s statistical and demographic services agency.<\/p>\n<p>Native-born Canadians had an unemployment rate of only 4.7 per cent in June this year, down from 7.5 per cent for the same month in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Massive labour shortages across Canada \u2013 which are the bane of employers struggling to find qualified workers \u2013 are a blessing to those seeking employment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Watch Video<\/b><\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RQbBRlEQ22A\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>In Quebec, one of the provinces with the most severe labour shortages, tech companies called on the Premier Francois Legault in June to give immigrants a break on having to learn French in only six months, a requirement under Bill 96.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe requirement under Bill 96 to learn French within six months imposes an unrealistic deadline, as newcomers struggle with multiple challenges related to a life-changing move to a new home in Quebec,\u201d the group of 37 tech companies wrote in an open letter to the premier.<\/p>\n<h3>Quebec Ups Weekly Benefit For Immigrants To Learn French<\/h3>\n<p>That response to the province\u2019s language legislation was orchestrated by the Council of Canadian Innovators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the founders, CEOs, and leaders behind Quebec\u2019s fastest-growing companies, we are incredibly proud of the culture of our home province. We support the spirit of Quebec\u2019s language law &#8211; protecting our distinct francophone identity &#8211; but implementation needs to be paused until the government fully establishes the necessary tools for French tutoring through Francisation Qu\u00e9bec,\u201d the companies wrote in their open letter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis ensures that the spirit of the law can be applied, concretely, successfully on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Quebec\u2019s ministry responsible for immigration and francization, the Minist\u00e8re de l\u2019Immigration, de la Francisation et de l\u2019Int\u00e9gration (MIFI), has since responded by bumping up the weekly benefit for those taking full-time French courses to $205.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>If you are a candidate looking for a Canada job, or an employer looking to recruit foreign talent from abroad, immigration.ca can help. Access our expertise through our in-house recruitment enterprises,\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skilledworker.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>www.skilledworker.com<\/b><\/a><b>\u00a0and our newest asset,\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skilledworker.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>www.skilledworker.com<\/b><\/a><b>, \u201cthe leader in foreign recruitment\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Those taking French classes for at least three hours per week saw their weekly benefit go up to $26.<\/p>\n<p>Employers\u00a0hoping\u00a0to\u00a0hire a foreign national can avail themselves of this international talent and labour through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/visa-de-travail-canadien-travailler-au-canada\">Temporary Foreign Worker<\/a> Program\u00a0(TFWP), and; the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/international-mobility-program\">International Mobility Program\u00a0<\/a>(IMP).<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-work-permit-global-talent-stream\">Global Talent Stream\u00a0<\/a>(GTS), a part of the (TFWP), can under normal processing situations lead\u00a0to\u00a0the granting of Canadian work permits and processing of visa applications within two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Employers\u00a0can also bring in foreign nationals\u00a0to\u00a0fill available positions through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/canada-express-entry-immigration\">Express\u00a0Entry\u00a0system<\/a>, which receives immigration applications online.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants who meet eligibility criteria submit an online profile known as an Expression of interest (EOI), under one of three federal immigration programs or a participating provincial immigration program,\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0Express\u00a0Entry\u00a0Pool.<\/p>\n<p>The candidates\u2019 profiles then are ranked against each other according\u00a0to\u00a0a points-based system called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/immigration.ca\/fr\/comprehensive-ranking-system-crs\">Comprehensive Ranking System\u00a0<\/a>(CRS).
