I'm in kind of a stupid situation. Here's my immigration resume:
2002-2005: Study permit 2005-2007: Post-grad work permit 2007-2009: Study permit 2009: work permit
Now, the new Canadian Experience class is basically designed for people like me, but because it wasn't implemented until 2009, I technically don't meet the requirements. A canadian degree plus 12 months work is sufficient, but the work has to be within the last 24 months - and obviously, mine is not. So my two canadian degrees and 18 months canadian work are not going to do me any good until I have worked an additional 12 months here. If I have to go through the temporary permit process one more time before I have a PR app in I may scream.
If I apply skilled worker now, instead of waiting a year to apply Canadian Experience, which is likely to be faster? Anyone know? I'd been avoiding skilled worker because people keep telling me it will take me 5+ years, and my partner and I had considered trying to save up enough cash to do family class instead (which hasn't worked out, of course).
I've lived here several years and I'm starting to get desperate. Does anyone know anything about the speed of Canadian Experience class vs. Skilled Worker? Thanks. |
