| Good day to all! I would like to start a topic on the length of time on the processing of applications in the Philippines just to be aware of the current dates that the Canadian embassy in Manila is processing right now. My application is dated Apr. 18, 2005. No communication yet from the embassy after I received my file no. last June 2005. I was told by my agency that they have applicants dated 2003 who already received waiver of interview last year 2006. I hope to receive inputs from you. Thanks! |

Hi Kababayan,
Canadian Embassy here in the Philippines as stated to your document along with the File Number that it would take as long as 60 mos = 5 Years.Your only gateway to get some feedbacks is the agency, the one whose handling your application. This is because they all have the updated information about your application and of course your Status. Just send me a PM, probably we could exchange some information!
Good Luck to our applications. |

Oh you will enjoy driving from Cali to Mississauga ... I work here in Mississauga .. lot's of Filipinos ... Filipino Stores, Asian Stores ...
My suggestion to you is your last stop should be the city before the border so that you cross the border AM ... and you are fresh to talk to the immigration officer ... the immigration officer is not that hard to talk to as it is still morning ( i heard a case that they arrived midnight and the immigration officer was not that polite)..... in your case I am guessing you will cross the detroit border ...
If you will register the car you need ... the RECALL Letter ... your Certificate of Title (if you own the car) .. otherwise the bank or company who holds your title has to mail it to the Driver and License Office later on ..
Check which is cheaper to have daylight driving light installed in the U.S. or Canada ... because you will be required to have it on the Safety Inspection ..
Prepare a list for your good's to follow. They will stamp this list for your reference later on.
Have a credit card ready to pay for the import tax on the car.
Bank statement... the one that you submitted in your application will be asked. I showed about 14,000 for a family of 3 they did not question me or anything ...
You will also need cash to exchange later on for your initial things to buy. (coffee, some snacks)
And then after arrival you fix your SIN,Driver's License,OHIP, Open a Bank Account for proof of address ($20 initial deposit will be fine).
Tanong ka lang kung may kailangan ka ...

Hi there! Filipino? Nice to know! I thought that I was the only Pinoy who is a member of this forum. We just recieved our File Number last Month, and based from the attached document, they(Canadian Embassy) is going to send us the requirements after 4 months. But we already have everything prepared except for the Settlement Fund, Birth Certificate of my newly born baby and my English exam from IELTS.But the rest of the requirements are properly prepared.

Noy...
It depends on your work.

hi kabayan,
Kelangan ko ba ba talagang kumuha ng IELTS kahit na tipong nasa Call Center Industry na ako for almost 5 years na kung saan ay English talaga ang usapan kahit saan.Or kumuha lang talaga ako for formality sake lang? Well, we just recieved our FIle Number pero ang sabi don, wait pa kami ng 4 mos para i send nila yung mga requirements.
We will be landing sa Alberta, and we will be staying with my relatives, so no problem namn pagdating sa bahay.Nasa IT industry na ako for 6 years na rin.
What can you suggest ba? Maraming salamat!

jnbalneg, taking IELTS is i should say MANDATORY to applicants whose native tongue is not english. I too took it kahit and2 na ko sa US for 7 years. Lahat ng environment ko english speaking. I also read some posts that even an MBA here in the US, still needs it. You're not taking IELTS for the sake of it or you want it, you NEED it. cencia na but kelangan natin d2 konti english pra d tayo i-block.
With regards to the file number, is it the same as AOR (Acknowledgment Of Receipt)?. tsek mo to site
http://lbautista.proboards31.com/index.cgi
dami ka makukuha info dyan. goodluck. keep us posted.
