I am assuming that if you are requesting information yourself you do not need a letter, but if you have someone in Canada requesting information on you behalf you will have to submit a consent letter because they are not going to release private information to just anyone.

--------------- IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING
If you decide to use Citizenship and Immigration Canada's Access to Information and Personal Information Request form, Please do not accompany it with a letter or the Treasury Board form. Only use this form, the neccessary consents and the fee (if applicable) when making a request. Folowing these recommendations will save all parties time and paper.
Basic items needed to start processing a request: 1. Formal request 2. Consent(s) 3. Fee ($5.00, only for an Access to information request) - cheque or money order made payable to the Receiver General for Canada
Basic information needed to start processing a request:
1. Name 3. File location 2. Date of birth 4. File number
N.B.: Request under the Access to Information or Privacy Acts can only be made by Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, or a person present in Canada, therefore if your client is not one of the above, your request must be made under the Access to Information Act. Also, your first request must include proof (i.e. copy of Canadian passport) that the requester (yourself) is one of the above if you are making the request from outside Canada.

It says do not accompany the request with a letter.

hey sunil, whatever i have learned so far about the CAIPS, i dont think applying for this report will not help you in anyway, coz they have not probably started processing your application yet, unless you have already been contacted by cic about your application. so there shouldnt be any notes or anything in ur report. As far as, yours e-cas status is concerned, you should contact cic about it. If i m wrong about it, anybody plz correct me. |

Hi
I am a Jan 2004 applicanrt & I have some queries, someone please try to answer. I ordered my CAIPS notes sometime back & found the following: 1. An omission: My Intended occupation/present occupation column is blank. I have been in two occupations & so there could have been two NOCs printed. But there is none. What could it possibly imply?? 2. A mistake: My wife's occupation was/is teaching, & we had mentioned same in the original application submitted. But in the CAIPS notes, her intended as well as present occupation has been mentioned as that of a homemaker. Is it a mistake, or some other reason could be behind it? 3. It is printed that," PAPER FILE SENT TO: PA BF FILE TO: FRQ ON 10-10-2010." Does it mean that my file be processed around 10-10-2010? But as I understand from the ongoing discussions on the forum, Jan 2004 applicants should be expecting their update letters in mid-2008? Can somebody please clarify?
Regards.
PKD.
