Hello Everyone,

I am a university student who is working on my thesis project. For that project I am trying to understand why some Asian immigrants decide to become Canadian citizens. I need your help...

I have constructed a web-based questionnaire that I am asking Asian immigrants who are living in Ontario to complete.

If you are:
An immigrant from Asia who is living in Ontario,
who has been in Canada for at least 2 years,
and have not already applied for Canadian citizenship

would you please consider participating in this important research by completing the questionnaire?

If you do not meet this description, or do not want to complete the questionnaire, could you please forward the link to someone who may?

The questionnaire, and a description of the study is available on-line at the following link:

I thank you very much for your consideration, and I look forward to your response!

Warm Regards,
Shevaun Nadin

I can speak from experience and the circle of friends that I have. Many Asian immigrants want to become Canadian citizens to obtain Canadian passport. There are many reasons but among them are convenience in international travel and respect for Canada. In fact, Cuba accepts Canadians and not Americans. Some Americans when they travel introduce themselves as Canadians even wearing Canadian shirts and carrying Canadian flags on their back packs. Why? Because they know that many countries hate Americans these days but welcome more the Canadians. Another reason is for these Asian-Canadians to reside and retire in their home countries. Being Canadians give them the rights and privilege to seek help from Canada in the event of war and problems in their home countries. It's a security and protection. The can enter Canadian Embassy, get into the first flight to Canada, etc. Lebanese-Canadians were saved because of their Canadian passports during the last Lebanon conflict.
